So here’s the thing. ;>

If you are starting to look around the web to find some way to increase your page rankings, sooner or later you will find that the basic way to get back links is to use free link directory submission.

They are supplying you with free back link, almost always direct link to your website;) Yupi!:P

Ok. But how it really works.

First of all you have to know that each category is a different subpage. For Google to index subpages of the directory can take a while. Also almost always your link will be placed on the 3-rd or mabey even 4-th level subpage. Than as you will probably see your page is not the only one in the category. If category is popular and directory accepts submissions quite fast you will be probably late for the place on the first page of this category.

Directories categorize links by PR, Date of submission and Alphabetically. So if the option is PR your site will be placed last becouse you don’t have any PR to show;) If the option is Date of Submission your page will be placed somewehere in the middle couse as I mentioned earlier you found this directory too late. If your option says Alphabetically than if you are lucky your site will be shown at the begining couse the name for your site is for example “1-little-mouse.com”. Anyway as you can see this FREE directory submission is a tricky stuff;)

So what are your options.

First option is to buy featured submission. That includes of course money, but you have some advantages also:

1. Almost always you can put your link on the top category.

2. Featured sites are shown on every page of the category. So if your category has 20 subpages, your site will have 20 back links.

3. There is a good chance that your back link wont be comming from suplemental index in which case your link will have no value.

4. Some directories will let you place more than one link ( links to your subpages) on the featured submission.

What are your other options?

If your pockets are not empty you can spend money on some good quality links on the homepages of the directories.

This way you will get your link on the home page with probably high Page Rank - 4, 5 is good. Also your site will get back links from every subpage of the directory. And if the directory is really big than you can get a lot of BL.

Of course to be seen on every one of those pages it will take some time, but it is a solid investment.

Well if your page has some unique content mabey you will be lucky and yours category will be almost alwasy empty?:)

The last option is to manage your own directories.

How can you do that?:) Well it’s quite simple.

First of all you will need to have some place on the web and domain. There are some budget hosting or other cheap hostings where you can place your directory. And even if you do not have that kind of money, you can alwasy use free hosting accounts and subdomains which they provide.

Than you will need some directory script which are also free to use;> isn’t this great?!!!:)

Here you will find the best directory scripts that you can use:

3. eSyndiCat

After all that you can install your new directory script, modify it to place your website link on it. Create some categories, change settings and at the beginning you will have at least 200 back links which have to be indexed in google to give some value for your page.

Than it’s good to ensure that your directory is active. You can ask why? You already have 200 BL why would you need more?:)

As for me there are two reasons. First one is to grow the structure of your directory. People say that usually 70-80 back links from one webpage is enough so you already have more than you need. But your directory will never have enough. Good websites (in this case directory) are growing stronger if they have big ammount of subpages and internal link structure is well build. So the conclusion is quite easy - more submissions means more traffic and new subpages.The second reason is: couse there are two things why people are interested in buying links on your directory Page Rank and Traffic Rate;> If you have spend some money on hosting and domain, mabey even on some links you can actually get them back with a little of hard work.

So what you have to do is go to this place (it is my favourite one):

and submit your directory address to official list of the directories. There are other that kind of lists:

1. ADD URL List

2. Info Vilesilencer

4. Directory Planet

5. Submit Edge

but as so far Directory Critic is the best one.

After this you will start to receive some submissions to your directory. And submissions mean traffic and this is good:)

After that you will need to get some back links to your directory, increase your Page Rank, Traffic and enlarge your number of directories. Couse as you will see one directory is never enough.
